Explore your relation to violence

Direct Approach was created by a Danish artist Stine Marie Jacobsen to explore the topic of violence in contemporary culture. During the workshop you will have a unique opportunity to learn new skills and create your own podcast that sheds light on the nature of violence and how it’s perceived in society.

Participation on the workshop will improve your technique of:

  • Active listening
  • Conducting interviews
  • Voice acting
  • Podcast making

Acquiring skills such as active listening and neutral interview method as well as oratory practice and recording podcasts are a great practice for all those interested in working with various forms of media and covering socially important stories.

This offline workshop that will take place in Vinnytsia on October 20-22nd. You will meet and work with Stine Marie in person, but the workshop itself will be held in Ukrainian by our Regional Program Officer Oksana Nykytyuk!

The first two day of Direct Approach workshop are dedicated to 3-hour long trainings and the final day will have a 6-hour long recording session.

We cover travel cost for participants from Vinnytsia region and provide light snacks (and lunch on the final day) for all participants for the duration of the program.

Stine Marie Jacobsen is a conceptual artist working to decode violence and law both individually and collectively through participatory means. She lives and works in Copenhagen and Berlin, graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts with an MFA in 2009 and a BFA from CalArts, the California Institute of the Arts, Los Angeles, USA in 2007.
