Democracy Discussion Club: Trust
25-10-2021 18:00 - 19:00
Peremoga Space, 2nd floor, Event Hall
Yaroslaviv Val 15
Kyiv
Do you want to learn more about democracy in Denmark and Ukraine, practice your English-speaking skills, and make a new Danish friend in Kyiv?
We are launching new series: Democracy Discussion Club.
It will feature Matthaeus Zygmunt Pohl, an intern the Danish Embassy in Kyiv and a Bachelor’s student at the University of Copenhagen, who is interested in Eastern European identity, culture, and democratic development.
Come join us, get an idea of some aspects of the Danish democracy, and share your opinion! It will not be a lecture or public talk – we want to have a real discussion and hear what YOU think.
The topic of our first meeting – The Sense of Trust – touches upon one of the core values of Danish society. We will talk about trust between people generally and their trust in government in particular.
Does corruption result from the lack of trust? What consequences does cheating lead to? What motivates people to pay taxes transparently? How did Denmark succeed in fighting COVID and what does it have to do with trust?
For this meeting, Matthaeus will bring along some of his friends who are currently visiting Ukraine:
- Selma Grunnet, architecture student
- Gustav Bandholm, business & philosophy student
- Oskar Harder, political science student
- Julius Hilario, journalism student
Together, we will examine topics like democracy and trust from different perspectives!
