Cooperation between Ukraine and Denmark
It is the ambition to create a Youth House, which is driven for and by young people from Denmark and Ukraint to strengthen the rights and voice of the new generation and give them the competences to organize and increse their democratic participation in society. It is also a priority to establish long-term cooperation and partnerships between the Danish and Ukrainian youth.
Platform for exchange and cultural cooperation
The Youth House will be open for young people from Denmark and Ukraine, who in cooperation will develop a broad range of activities. It will be a platform for youth exchange and new cultural cooperation across the borders.
Many of the activies will have a cultural touch - eg. theater and movie cooperations focusing on the fight agains corruption and violence.
The users of the Youth House will both be formal youth organizations and more informal groups of eg. artists, activists or just young people interested in having an impact on the activities of the Youth House. We will ensure that all parts of the political spectrum will be represented. It will also be a priority to engage young people outside Kyiv in the Youth House.
The Youth House is already open for activies.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeppe Kofod:
"Ukraine is at the frontline of democracy. A country trying to get rid of oligarchs and curruption. A country, that wants democratic reforms. A country occupied by Russia. Ukraine is probably the country we have in Europe facing the biggest challenges. But it is also a country with an enormous potential and a population, which is struggeling for a free, democratic and peaceful future. Of course Denmark wants to support Ukraine in this proces. It is essential recognizing the importance in involving the youth in the development of our society. The Ukrainian Danish Youth House will be an important incubator for the development of democracy, youth rights and cutural cooperation in Ukraine."
CEO at Danish Cultural Institute, Camilla Mordhorst, is also enthusiastic about the Youth House:
"At The Danish Cultural Insitute we primarely work with creating dialogue across cultures. We believe that the experience of exchange is essential for a sustainable future. We are therefor very happy and proud to be part of this ambitious project. The Ukrainian youth is playing a vital role in shaping the future of the country, so it is with great humility and professional interest that we will create change across borders through arts- and cultureprojects in cooperation with the Danish and Ukrainian youth. The Youth House will be a strong platform to create long-term relations, which can challenge and inspire the youth in both our countries. We are looking forward to be part of that!"
Chriss Preuss, chairman for The Danish Youth Council, is looking forward to get to work:
"At the Danish Youth Council we are happy and greatful to create a new base in Kyiv which will foster ever more partnerships on democratic participation, engagement and activism between the Danish and Ukrainian youth. Both in the Youth Council and among our membership organizations we already have a range of projects created by young activists from Denmark and Ukraine which will now get a platform in the Youth House. We are looking forward to start working on an engaging house, where young Danes can meet with young Ukrainians and they together can create change for the youth."
